Oscar 2017: The alright, the good and the downright hell yes!

The Oscar 2017 outfits did not disappoint; you had the usual play safe dresses, the princess dresses, the WTF if she wearing dresses and the absolutely flawless ones too. Here are my top picks:

Kate Bosworth in J. Mendel

Comment: How pretty does she look? She looks like Cinderella after she gets transformed by the fairy godmother *insert heart eyed emoji*

Emma Stone in Givenchy

Comment: I love this look on Emma Stone! She has the whole ‘old hollywood’ look down to a T and she looks like a golden era goddess!

Olivia Culpo in Marchesa

Comment: I love this flapper style dress. It’s so elegant, cute and sexy all at the same time. Who knew tassels could look so good!

Auli’i Cravalho in Rubin Singer

Comment: Such a beautiful and elegant dress. I believe this was Auli’i’s first Oscar appearance and wow, what a first statement to make!

Scarlett Johansson in Alaïa

Comment: In honesty, I did not like Scarlett’s first dress to the main Oscar ceremony however, this is on point. She is modern, a bit tough, sultry and the hair is on point with this outfit!

Taraji P. Henson in Alberta Ferretti

Comment: What a siren! All I can say is that Taraji is on fire! This is a look that owed the red carpet!

Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad

Comment: Chrissy gets it so right with this dress! There’s the right amount of sparkle, leg, flair and pizzazz!

Halle Berry in Atelier Versace

Comment: How great does Halle look with her golden dress and her hair? She looks like a golden and beautiful storm.

Double Winners:

These were the stunners who wowed in both their red carpet and Oscar after-party dresses. The winners are…

Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo

Comment: What a stunning dress! Hailee makes a beautiful entrance on the red carpet with her floaty, feminine and floral dress. She looks like an angel!

Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo

Comment: After wearing an elegant number, Hailee changed into a more slinky, sparkly number… both are different looks but she looks fantastic in both outfits!

Brie Larson in Oscar De La Renta

Comment: Whereas Kate Bosworth looked like Cinderella, Brie looks like Ursula from the Little Mermaid. I love everything about this dress as it’s classic, dramatic and romantic. The ruffles at the bottom are everything!

Brie Larson in Ralph & Russo

Comment: Brie has gone from looking like Ursula to the Little Mermaid. What a gorgeous silky number and the colour is to die for. The green beautifully complements her milky skin.

Best dressed male of the night:

The winner is Riz Ahmed…

Riz Ahmed in Ermenegildo Zegna

Comment: Most of the men wore the traditional black and white suits, looking dapper and James Bond-like but Riz got it so right in his navy suit! He looks very chic and charismatic.

Best statement outfits of the night:

The winner is Janelle Monàe…

Janelle Monàe in Elie Saab

Comment: People are so divided over this dress and I have to admit, it took some getting used to but if she can’t wear this to the Oscar red carpet event then when can she?! Plus, Janelle really works this outfit. She looks like the queen from Alice in Wonderland.

Janelle Monàe in Alexandre Vauthier

Comment: What a transformation. Yes it’s still a statement dress but this time, she looks like the queen of Atlanta!

My favourite outfits of the Oscar:

The winner is Karlie Kloss…

Karlie Kloss in Stella McCartney

Comment: What a vision in white! Here everything is on point with Karlie’s look. The white slinky dress, the statement cape, the diamond choker and the hair! *triple thumbs up* She has a princess of Scandinavia vibe, queen of the ice age, queen of Frozen… you get the idea!

Karlie Kloss in Naeem Khan

Comment: What a sexy siren! This dress fits so well on Karlie that you’d think she went to the dress maker several hours before and he built the dress around her. It’s slinky, it’s sexy, it’s sultry, it’s red and boy does she look good!

Till tomorrow,
